The flag of Seychelles was officially approved on January 8, 1996. The present flag is the third flag designed by the nation after gaining independence from Britain on June 29, 1976. Seychelles flag is designed and comprised of official colors of nation's two major political, which are parties–Seychelles People's United Party and the Seychelles Democratic Party.
The flag features five different colored stripes, which are green, white, red, yellow and blue. Flag of Seychelles slanting bands represent a dynamic new republic moving into the future.
The unique flag was accepted after freedom on June 29, 1976. It had flashing blue and red triangles. Fortunately the flag was nearly identical to the Australian United Steam Navigation Company's flag. In 1977, the flag featuring the colors red, white and green based on the flag of the Seychelles People's United Party came into existence. The only important change between the national flag and SPUP's flag was the depiction of the sun in the party's flag. The flag was also actual similar to the mixture of the flag of the Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, and the Estonian SSR. When the gathering lost the mainstream in the elections, other parties required a change in the flag which led to a parliamentary endorsement of a new proposed design.
