The flag of Namibia was adopted in the year 2 February 1990. There was contest held by the National Symbols Sub-Committee, which received around several designs for the national flag. Out of hundreds of designs, three designs were shortlisted for Namibia Flag. Finally, the constituent Assembly approved the most suitable design out of three, for the nation flag.
The flag of Namibia has color red that represents the Namibian people. The next color is white which means peace and unity. Green signifies Namibia's vegetation and agricultural resources.
The design of the national flag was selected by the government body known as National Symbols Sub-Committee of Namibia. There were eight hundred and seventy entries for the design of flag was prudently examined and six were qualified. Finally, three designs were designated from the six selected entries and were joint to form Namibia’s national flag. The winning designs were shaped by three Namibians - Don Stevenson, Ortrud Clay, and Theo Jankowski. Namibia’s Constituent Assembly accepted the final design of the flag on February 2, 1990.
The flag of Namibia landscapes two triangles that are unglued by a diagonal stripe in the between them. The top triangle is blue in color and the bottom one is green. The diagonal stripe between them is red and is surrounded by white. It runs from the bottom hoist-side corner to the conflicting corner of the flag. The top triangle has a gold sun with 12 triangular rays radiating from all sides.
The colors and signs of the flag all have their personal senses. The blue color is a sign of the sky and the ocean both of which play an important part in the country’s welfare. The red color signifies the people of the republic, their bravery and willpower to achieve equal occasion for all in the future. White in the flag represents unity and peace.
