The flag of Togo has five equal flat stripes of green (top and bottom) alternating with yellow. Moreover, in the top hoist-side corner of the flag, there is a white five-pointed star on a red square. Togo flag is uses the popular pan-African colors of Ethiopia. However, the design of the flag is quite close to Liberia.

The flag of Togo was publicly approved on April 27, 1960. It landscapes a white "Star of Hope" on a field of red, and the red of that field is said to signify the blood shed by countrymen thru the internal fight for independence. Green is the representative of the country's farming wealth, while yellow is emblematic of mineral wealth. The flag of Togo has five horizontal bands defines five regions of Togo.

History of Togo Flag

The flag was built by painter Paul Ahyi and approaches a golden rectangle closely. Ahyi (January 15, 1930 – January 4, 2010) was observed as among the utmost of African artists of his group. He designed the flag of Togo while occupied on other existing works. The flag was approved on April 28, 1960 and is still in use. During France's law over Togo from 1957 to 1958, the flag of French Togo was castoff. After Togo's freedom, the first Flag of Togo was castoff from 1958 to 1960.
