The flag of Suriname is designed by five horizontal color stripes. These are color stripes are green at top and bottom of the flag; white color strip below green from top and above the green from the bottom, and the red stripe designed in the middle between the white stripes (top & bottom). Suriname flag also has yellow color five-pointed star at the middle of the red band.
The flag was accepted on 25 November, 1975, upon the freedom of Suriname. The star signifies the unity of all cultural groups, the red stripe signifies for progress and love, the green for confidence and fertility, and the white stripes for peace and justice. The present flag of Suriname was formally approved on 25 November, 1975. The white characterizes freedom and righteousness and the red and green were the colors of the radical parties during freedom. The gold star represents unity and hope.
The only Dutch colony on the continental of the New World to continue into the 20th century, Suriname has a exclusive ethnic and national mix that circles it off from its Latin American neighbors. The Suriname national flag is subsequently dissimilar from those of nearby countries, although it usually resembles other new flags of the Caribbean area. As an independent territory under Dutch rule, Suriname in 1959 lifted a white flag that bore a black ellipse. That rare flag also had five stars whose colors (white, black, brown, yellow, and red) suggested the ethnic groups of the territory. The 1959 design was uncontrolled—in part since many felt that it highlighted ethnicity over state unity—when Suriname developed independent on November 25, 1975. The new national flag, accepted just four days before, had been developed in a state competition.
It landscapes green bands for the country’s forests and agricultural lands, white for fairness and freedom, and red for the reformist spirit of a young nation. At the centre of the flag is a yellow star symbolic of the unity of the nation, its golden future, and the spirit of expense essential on the part of citizens to attain that goal.
