Pakistan got its freedom on 15 August 1947; however, the national flag of Pakistan was approved by the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947. Pakistan Flag has a green field with a white semicircular moon and five-rayed star at its centre, and a perpendicular white band at the hoist side.
The flag is mentioned to in the national anthem as the Flag of the Hemispherical and Star. It is hovered on several significant days of the year counting republic day, freedom day and defence day. Flag of Pakistan is hoisted every morning at schools, offices and government buildings along with playing orchestra of national anthem and lowered again before sunset.
During the struggle of Pakistan independence against United Kingdom, a number of Muslims formed All India Muslim League and designed the current flag of Pakistan in 1947. The flag was hoisted on the land three days before the independence.
The green signifies Islam and the popular Muslims in Pakistan and the white band signifies religious minorities and minority religions. In the centre, the semicircular and star denotes progress and light respectively. The flag represents Pakistan's commitment to Islam and the privileges of religious minorities. It is built on the inventive flag of the Muslim League, which itself drew stimulus from the flag of the Sultanate of Delhi, the Flag of the Mughal Empire, and the flag of Ottoman Empire.
