The national flag of Latvia was flown during the independence duration of Latvia from 1918 till the nation was captured by the Soviet Union in 1940. The flag was suppressed during the Soviet Union rule. On 27 February 1990, Lativa Flag was re-adopted after gaining independence by Latvian government.
