The flag of Kuwait was accepted on September 7, 1961, and formally hoisted November 24, 1961. Earlier 1961, the Kuwait Flag was red and white, resembling other Persian Gulf states at the time, with the arena being red and words or custodies being written in white.
During the historical of Ottoman law in Kuwait, the Ottoman flag, red with a white semicircular and star, was used. This flag was booked after the country developed a British protectorate in the Anglo-Kuwaiti Agreement of 1899. Two dissimilar flag design was proposed but not approved in the period after this. The Ottoman flag was being hover until the First World War, when friendly-fire events with the British in 1914 throughout the Mesopotamian campaign about the river Shatt al-Arab happened due to Kuwait and the opponent Ottomans both using the same flag. The current flag is in the Pan-Arab colors, but each color is also notable in its own right. Black signifies the defeat of the enemy, while red is the color of blood on the swords. Whereas, white defines purity, and green is for the fertile land.
